Wireless Health 2011 Conference Convenes Vanguard of International Research Communities in Wireless Health Technology and Medical Research
Scientific Conference Highlights New Global Research in Wireless Health –
October 10-13, 2011
LA JOLLA, Calif. – September 8, 2011 – The Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance (WLSA), convenes its second annual scientific conference, Wireless Health 2011, where researchers from global institutions such as MIT, University of Edinburgh, UCLA, and other leading universities will share the best new research and significant advances in wireless health technologies with thought leaders from academia, medicine, government and industry. In addition to the scientific discussions, keynote presentations from Qualcomm’s Paul Jacobs and other global organizations will highlight the four-day conference.
The conference is scheduled for October 10-13, 2011, at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines.
Wireless Health 2011 is the second of two major annual conferences hosted by the WLSA. The conference series convenes international research communities that focus on wireless health technology and medical research within rapidly expanding wireless health product and service industries. The conference provides the highest profile academic and industrial research forum for the new field of Wireless Health and is expected to attract more than 500 attendees from academia, industry, government, and the media.
“Wireless Health 2011 helps to accelerate the adoption of global wireless health and has assembled in cooperation with our Technical Review Committee another outstanding set of peer-reviewed papers, interactive workshops, industrial and academic application demonstrations, topical panel discussions, and a world-renowned group of invited speakers,” said Robert B. McCray, WLSA President & CEO. “This is a perfect opportunity for learning and networking with engineers, scientists, clinicians, researchers, government funding agencies such as NIH and NSF; whose works and funding span every aspect of wireless health.”
Featured keynotes and speakers include:
· Dr. Paul Jacobs, Chairman & CEO, Qualcomm
· Gene Frantz, TI Principal Fellow & Business Development Manager, Digital Signal Processing, Semiconductor Group, Texas Instruments
· Bruce Dobkin, MD, UCLA Medical Center
· Farnam Jahanian, PhD, Director, National Science Foundation Directorate for Computer & Information Science & Engineering (NSF CISE)
· Chris Van Hoof, PhD, Director HUMAN++, IMEC
· William Riley, PhD, Program Director, National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute (NHLBI)
The Wireless Health 2011 Conference Agenda incorporates three days of panel sessions, research paper presentations, keynotes, and technology demonstrations. A full day of pre-conference sessions provides technology tutorials. Daily sessions will enlist attendees to address wireless health research challenges and other opportunities in computer science, medical informatics, signal processing, human factors and device technology.
Panels and paper presentations covering the breadth of the wireless health research landscape include:
· Wireless Health in the Field: Individual Condition Assessment
· Health and Wellness Connectivity Services in Vehicles on the Go
· Innovations for Reduction in Heart Failure Readmission
· Advances in Biomedical Sensing for Wireless Health
· Context Guided Wireless Health Monitoring and Classification
· New Initiatives and Program Opportunities in Wireless Health Research
