New relationship will help Medicaid enrollees stay in contact with health care providers

WARREN, N.J. – Assurance Wireless and OmniCare Health Plan Inc. have partnered to spread awareness of Assurance Wireless, a federal Lifeline Assistance program to OmniCare’s 47,000 enrollees in Michigan. This partnership with Assurance Wireless, a cell phone service that provides a wireless phone and 250 free minutes of wireless voice service monthly to eligible low-income customers, will allow OmniCare to strengthen channels of communication with its members to promote preventive health care and regular check-ups with their doctors. OmniCare Members will have unlimited access to their Primary Care Physician’s office and to the health plan via voice calls and text messaging without impacting their free minutes.



OmniCare Health Plan is committed to providing quality health care coverage to underserved Michigan residents and plans to promote the wireless service as a way for its customers to manage their health by being in direct contact with health care providers.

Eligibility for Assurance Wireless varies by state and may include those who participate in Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or food stamps), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA or Section 8), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) or the National School Lunch Program’s Free Lunch Program.
