Dataline Launches New iPhone App for Healthcare Professionals

Dataline Software is proud to announce version 2.0 of Snomobile, the first SNOMED browser for handheld devices. The new version released in January introduces support for the NHS UK extensions, plus enhancement to its search engine.

Brighton, United Kingdom, January 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dataline Software is proud to announce version 2.0 of Snomobile, the first SNOMED browser for handheld devices. This innovative iPhone/iPad App is designed to aid healthcare professionals find and organise SNOMED and CTV3 codes - and provides a variety of techniques to search, sort and retrieve clinical terms. The new version released in January introduces support for the NHS UK extensions, plus enhancement to its search engine.

SNOMED Clinical Terms (CT) is the most comprehensive, multilingual clinical healthcare terminology in the world. It enables Electronic Healthcare Record software to record clinical information in a standard format that allows meaning-based retrieval - providing effective access to information for decision support and consistent reporting and analysis. This facilitates better communication, leading to improvements in the quality of care.

The SNOMED CT dataset contains over 300,000 unique concepts, all of which can be found using Snomobile in a matter of seconds. The application stores its own copy of the SNOMED dataset locally, which means that as well as providing super-fast performance, it does not require an Internet connection to operate.

In response to feedback from users, the search engine in Snomobile 2.0 has been enhanced to support prefix matching. This new search mode works in the same way as whole-word matching except that it returns words that begin with the text entered by the user. For example, "hear mur fun" will find "Functional Heart Murmur (finding)" in prefix matching mode.

As well as functional enhancements, the new release also incorporates the NHS UK extensions to the SNOMED dataset, bringing it in line with its sister product www.snoflake.co.uk - which has included these extensions for several months. Adrian Bleach, Managing Director of Dataline sees this improvement as a "must-have" for the application, saying "In order for Snomobile to be truly useful to the UK health sector, support for the UK Extensions was essential."
